The Research Institute in Digestive Health
In 2016, several research teams working in fields as varied in digestive physiopathology as inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac disease, intestinal motility disorders, or iron intestinal absorption disorders and their impact on the liver, gathered within a unique research structure. This is how Toulouse’s INSTITUTE for DIGESTIVE HEALTH RESEARCH (IRSD) was born, whose members share a common vision for the promotion of digestive health.
Having gathered expertise on the function of the intestinal barrier, microbiota, mucosal immunology, neurogastroenterology and iron metabolism in one place offers the researchers of the IRSD the opportunity to approach digestive and metabolic pathologies with an integrated vision.
General mission
The IRSD brings together and structures research forces (6 teams and 3 platforms) around a common goal: to improve understanding of the physiology of the digestive tract (intestinal and liver). Our mission is to conduct medical research, support training through research and disseminate the latest advances and practices in digestive health.
