Prevalence and persistence of pathogenic and antibiotic resistant bacteria
The global aim of my current project is the assessment of food-industry associated microbial risks for public health, notably antibiotic-resistant and/or pathogenic E. coli.
A particular attention is paid to environmental impacts of effluents coming from the beef industry by:
-Investigating the antimicrobial resistance and the markers of pathogenicity (EHEC-genetic markers) of E. coli isolated from cattle slaughterhouse wastewater treatment plants (SWWTP) and feces collected a slaughter.
-Investigating the location of antibiotic-resistance determinants in order to explore genetic mecanisms behind resistance.
-Investigating the E. coli phylogroups with the aim of exploring the genetic distribution of E. coli isolated from cattle SWWTP and cattle feces collected at slaughter.
